DR FAUSTUS
By Christopher Marlowe
Directed by Toby Frow

When Doctor Faustus' desperate thirst for knowledge leads him to conjure up the demon Mephistopheles, he finds himself offered all he desires in exchange for handing his own soul over to the devil - in twenty-four years time. Is it enough to have all the power in the world when the price is to live in the shadow of one’s own damnation? Christopher Marlowe’s STUNNING and SAVAGE tragedy is directed by 33 year old Toby Frow, whose recent credits include Birmingham Rep and the National Theatre tour of Pillowman.

THE BACCHAE
By Euripides
In a new version by Mike Poulton
Production conceived and created by Mark Bruce & Braham Murray
Directed by Braham Murray

When a new god - the god of the life force, the god of sensuality, wine and the dance, the god who other religions fear - arrives in a buttoned-down world, he finds a leader who no longer believes in a power higher than himself, who will do whatever it takes to preserve the status quo. But this society is a ticking time bomb, revolution is in the air, the people are desperate for change, and a band of sisters is ready to explode and destroy everyone and everything that gets in the way in Mike Poulton’s all-new version of this DARK and LIBERATING play, co-conceived with choreographer Mark Bruce and Artistic Director Braham Murray.

8 December 2010 - 22 January 2011
(EXTRA MATINEE - Tuesday 21 December)
ZACK
By Harold Brighouse
Directed by Greg Hersov

When her wealthy unmarried niece Virginia comes to stay, Mrs Munning is desperate to show that her golden-boy son, Paul, is prime husband material and turn the family’s fast-developing money worries into a thing of the past. For their increasingly elaborate scheme to have any chance of success, they must keep Paul’s unconventional underachieving younger brother Zack out of trouble and out of the way. That proves to be anything but easy in Harold Brighouse’s TENDER and HILARIOUS comedy classic.

Winner of The Bruntwood Playwriting Competition
26 January - 19 February 2011
MOGADISHU
By Vivienne Franzman
Directed by Matthew Dunster

When white secondary school teacher Amanda is pushed to the ground by black student Jason, her liberal values make her reluctant to report it. However, once the boy and his peers have decided to protect themselves by spinning a story of their own, Amanda finds herself sucked into a vortex of lies in which victim becomes perpetrator. Then, with the truth becoming less clear and more dangerous by the day, it isn’t long before careers, relationships and even lives are under threat. Vivienne Franzmann’s GRIPPING and URGENT new play is one of the four winners of the Bruntwood Playwriting Competition and is directed by exciting director, Matthew Dunster, whose recent MACBETH and 1984 caused a stir in the Theatre.
